〈Message from Iemoto Akane Teshigahara〉
The Sogetsu Annual Exhibition, where the best of Sogetsu Ikebana get together, marks the memorable occasion of its 100th event this year.
The Sogetsu School of Ikebana always exudes the latest atmosphere and pursue ikebana right for here and now. What Sogetsu has always kept up since its foundation, is the philosophy of the first Iemoto Sofu Teshigahara, "Flowers become human in ikebana."
However much time goes by and our society evolves, ikebana is tirelessly reflecting the thoughts and feelings of people who live in the moment.
In this commemorative exhibition, as an important milestone, we will not only show the most innovative forms of ikebana that we have created but also highlight the exhibitors so as to show you how powerful and attractive they are. Embrace the flowers and live with the plants- I strongly believe that this exhibition celebrating the joy of creation will be the first step towards a new stage of the Sogetsu School.
